Position Summary

The Specialized Transport Dispatch Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating the dispatch operations for specialized towing, heavy-duty recovery, equipment transport, and emergency roadside service activities. This role oversees dispatch personnel, manages fleet utilization, coordinates customer requests, and ensures efficient deployment of drivers and equipment to maximize productivity, safety, and customer satisfaction. The Dispatch Manager serves as the critical link between customers, drivers, operators, and field operations.

Key Responsibilities

Dispatch Operations Management
  • Manage daily dispatch operations for specialized transport, towing, heavy recovery, equipment hauling, and oversized load transport services.
  • Coordinate and prioritize service calls based on urgency, customer needs, equipment requirements, and operational capacity.
  • Ensure efficient scheduling and routing of tow trucks, transport units, trailers, and recovery equipment.
  • Monitor field operations and make real-time adjustments to maximize efficiency and response times.
  • Maintain accurate dispatch records, service logs, and operational reports.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop dispatchers and dispatch support staff.
  • Establish performance standards and service expectations.
  • Conduct training on dispatch systems, customer service practices, and company procedures
  • Manage employee schedules to ensure appropriate coverage for 24/7 operations.
  • Foster a collaborative, customer-focused work environment.
Customer Service & Communication
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for customer concerns and service-related issues.
  • Coordinate communication between customers, drivers, operators, law enforcement agencies, insurance companies, and commercial accounts.
  • Provide accurate service updates, ETAs, and status reports.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through responsive and professional communication.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of dispatch experience in towing, transportation, logistics, emergency services, or fleet operations.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of towing and recovery operations, fleet management, and dispatch procedures.
  • Experience using dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and fleet management platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams).
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work extended periods at a computer and dispatch workstation.
  • Ability to respond to operational emergencies outside normal business hours.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations as needed.
