Job description

Hospital Safety Officer

NEW HIRE BONUS given to new employees - $150.00 full time after first 60 days worked. $100.00 part time after first 90 days worked.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Patrols and monitors an assigned area; report suspicious activities and document all suspicious activity;
  • Monitors surveillance cameras, inspects property;
  • Contacts law enforcement or fire department in case of an emergency;
  • After business hours, checks doors, windows, and gates to ensure the property is secure;
  • Investigates reports of suspicious activity on the property;
  • Escorts discharged staff, trespassers, and other unwelcome parties off the premises;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate the daily functions of the security team to help ensure that all tasks assigned to the team are completed in an efficient manner.
  • Provides written documentation of activities, incidents, premises safety, accidents, theft, vandalism and other data requested by supervision in a factual, objective and legible manner.
  • Responds to and provides assistance to visitors, staff, and other personnel assigned to the site during emergency situations such as assaults, domestic disputes, vandalism, Fire, bomb threats, theft, vehicle accidents, disasters, etc.
  • Monitors and controls the access of visitors, vendors, staff, and other personnel assigned to the site according to company policy and entry control procedures.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail;
  • Possess written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations;
  • Ability to learn the layout of the property and buildings;
  • Ability to communicate using a phone or hand held radios;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma preferred or two years or more of security experience;
  • Must obtain CPR/Basic Life Support certification through hospital-approved provider within 60 days of starting at the site. Must maintain certification while employed at the site.
  • Must obtain hospital-approved Crisis Intervention training/certification (e.g. CPI, AVADE) within 90 days of starting at the site. Must maintain certification while employed at the site.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to patrol the property and access areas quickly;
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and monitoring surveillance equipment;
  • Prolonged periods standing and observing the property surroundings;
  • Have the ability to twist and bend at the waist frequently;
  • Ability to lift, push or pull 80 pounds;

Applicants meeting the basic requirements for the position must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age;
  • Have not been convicted of a felony in any state or territory;
  • Be able to work flexible schedules;
  • Have a high school diploma;
  • Must not suffer from habitual drunkenness or narcotics addiction;
  • Must not have been declared mentally defective by a court of law unless deemed competent;
  • Applicants being considered for hire must be drug free before beginning work or receiving an offer of employment. Refusal to submit to testing will result in disqualification of further employment consideration;
  • Have access to reliable transportation to and from the work location;
  • Be authorized to work in the U.S.;
  • Be able to meet state licensing requirements for Security Officers, if required.
  • Must be able to pass a physical and show required immunities and be willing to receive vaccinations, if required.
