Job description

Ensures the safety of the Highland Hospital buildings and grounds to prevent and detect any security or safety issues.
Evening hours are: 2PM - 12:30AM
Night hours are: 12AM - 10:30AM
Employees must be available for both shifts. 
1. Patrols Hospital buildings and grounds to prevent and detect fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry, and safety hazards.   
2. Observes, investigates, and reports violations of law or hospital policies or procedures which disrupt the safety, security, and orderly operation of the hospital.  May take action to see that serious violations are ceased.  May be required to pursue and/or detain individuals or take temporary custody of property in accordance with established regulations. May be required to escort unauthorized personnel from restricted areas of the hospital or off the grounds entirely.  If involved in an incident resulting in an arrest, all necessary paperwork will be completed and necessary court appearances attended by the officer.       
3. Performs a variety of traffic control functions including patrol and monitoring all parking areas, rerouting traffic as necessary, keeping fire lanes accessible, investigating and reporting motor vehicle accidents. 
4. Locks and unlocks doors as scheduled.  Maintains security of all keys entrusted to officers and the department.             
5. Investigates reports and follow-ups on security related incidents.   Makes reports to Rochester Police Department when necessary.  Documents complaints, visitor accidents and makes appropriate referrals for corrective action. 
6. Releases bodies from the morgue.
Salary Range:
$23.50 - $29.36 an hour
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
