Job description

Job Overview

Administer clinical anesthesia to patients undergoing surgery and painful procedures and provide life support measures throughout the hospital, provide anesthesia services to obstetrics and vascular access-no picc lines.
Responsibilities

  • Administer anesthesia and perform related activities in a safe and effective manner according to accepted standards of care.
  • Checks equipment readiness and function, and adjusts location and use according to scheduling needs.
  • Prepares for each clinical experience with adequate forethought to patient needs by reviewing patient records and conducting patient interview.
  • Maintains a high level of safety readiness according to accepted standards.
  • Closely observes patient's condition and reacts and adjusts to changing conditions.
  • Accurately maintains records recording events associated with the anesthetic experience.
  • Provide support services as related to anesthesia and its associated skills to all areas of the hospital, inpatients, outpatients and home care patients.
  • Exhibits a high degree of competence in airway management to include routine airway management of patients one month or older and emergency airway management in patients of less than one month of age.
  • Maintains the highest level of expertise in I.V. therapy.
  • Provides consultation for difficult to manage life support situations on an as needed basis.
  • Provide emergency call availability on off duty hours and weekends.
  • Available in a timely fashion according to department standards.


Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and formal Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist training program
  • Central venous access and nerve block skills needed, but not required at time of hire
  • Current Minnesota RN and APRN license
  • Board certified or eligible from the National Board on Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) and maintains certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Assoc) within 180 Days
  • Pediatric Adv Life Support (American Heart Assoc) within 180 Days
