Location Site: Salem Hospital, 890 Oak Street SE, Salem, Oregon 97301
Department: Cardiovascular Care Unit
Position Type: FullTime, 36 hours/week, Non-Exempt
Schedule: 7:00 pm - 7:30 am, 12 hour shifts, variable scheduled days

Your role with us
This clinical nurse position features a unique opportunity in Salem Health's Cardiovascular Care Unit (CVCU), a Intensive Care specialty cardiac unit where you'll care for patients with heart failure, post-surgical cardiac, thoracic, and vascular conditions, as well as those with acute coronary syndrome. You'll also be involved in interventional cardiology and electrophysiology services.
As part of the CVCU's multidisciplinary team, you'll be dedicated to delivering excellent care to a diverse community. You'll be proud to know that our Heart Program was named one of the nation's Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospitals for 2020 - our fifth time receiving this honor and our third consecutive year.
You'll be part of a clinical team that values collaboration and clinical expertise. Our culture is centered on the patient, with high standards for quality care and customer service. You'll have a voice through our highly engaged Shared Governance Unit Council, which is committed to improving outcomes and maintaining a healthy work environment.
As a nurse here, you'll receive specialty training to care for this unique patient population, with a strong emphasis on professional growth and mentorship. You'll be encouraged and supported in pursuing advanced certifications. Training opportunities span from novice to advanced cardiovascular intensive care, including Intra-aortic Balloon Pump, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy, Targeted Temperature Management, and Ventricular Assist Devices.
What you'll do
  • Perform accurate, ongoing, and relevant assessments for each assigned patient.
  • Deliver patient care competently in alignment with individualized care plans.
  • Plan and coordinate patient transfers or discharges to the appropriate level of care.
  • Collaborate proactively with the healthcare team and patient families.
  • Document assessments, care plans, interventions, and patient responses clearly and accurately.
  • Anticipate patient needs and communicate effectively with team members.

Required qualifications
  • Requires a Bachelor of Science (BSN) or Bachelor of Arts degree in nursing, or non-nursing bachelor's degree with a Master of Science in nursing (MSN). Candidates with an associate's degree in nursing (ADN) or graduate of a diploma RN program are also encouraged to apply; ADN applicants with less than five years of acute care experience will be required to sign an agreement committing to complete their BSN or MSN degree within three years of hire
  • Unencumbered licensure to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Less than one year of nursing experience.
