Their work helps patients cope with illness, trauma, and life changes related to their health.

How does a hospital LCSW typically collaborate with medical teams to support patient care?

Hospital LCSWs work closely with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient care. They participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, provide psychosocial assessments, and advocate for patients’ emotional and social needs. By facilitating communication between patients, families, and medical staff, LCSWs help in discharge planning, crisis intervention, and connecting patients to community resources. This collaborative environment allows LCSWs to contribute significantly to both patient outcomes and overall care coordination.
