Job description

Join Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital for Rehabilitation, where you will work alongside passionate caregivers and provide patient-first healthcare. Under the direction of the Director of Plant Operations, the MaintenanceEngineer will perform modifications and alterations in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and finishing work.

A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., with rotational weekends and holidays, and on-call requirements every fourth week.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Modify/alter electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and finishing activities.
  • Complete routine maintenance.
  • Complete work order requests.
  • Complete routine inspections of the hospital andcompletea daily log form.
  • Assistwith hospital inventory andmaintaindepartmental supplies.
  • Occasionallyberequiredto transport patients to/from the hospital to Main Campus.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Trade school diploma
  • OR High School diplomaandthree years of building trade experience
  • Understands the age-specific developmental stages of patients served by the Hospital anddemonstratethe ability to interact appropriately with patients of all ages when necessary
  • Specific trade license/certification and/or specific training through education and/or equivalent on-the-job experience
  • The license/certification must be renewed annually or as required by the licensing/certification agency
  • Mustparticipatein continuing education activities asrequiredtomaintainlicense/certification or to keep current in the trade specified.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • 3 years of experience in general healthcare building maintenance
  • HVAC experience
  • Strong mechanical abilities
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
  • Reliability and availability for rotational scheduling
  • Painting/carpentry experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to tolerate long periods of standing and other activities that may be physically demanding such as, but not limited to, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, and working in confined areas.
  • Must be willing to participate in non-violent intervention training. Must be willing to be trained in and respond to emergency situations involving the operations of the facility.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
