Computer Operator

As a Computer Operator you will monitor system activity, recognize performance problems, and take appropriate action. You will observe peripheral equipment and error messages displayed on monitor of terminal to detect faulty output or machine stoppage. Assisting with Customer Service Center duties such as: Answers, evaluates, and prioritizes incoming telephone calls, voicemail, e-mail, and in-person requests for assistance from users experiencing problems with hardware, software, networking, and other computer-related technologies. You will develop and maintain positive relationships with our patients, guests, other team members, and medical staff by striving for excellence in service and quality. For our team members, this is more than a career — it's a calling.

You will be responsible for:

  • Develops teamwork within the Information Systems (IS) department. Assists in working "Customer Service Center" issues.
  • Answers the customer service phone. Obtains pertinent data regarding issues from caller. Logs the data into the software utilized to track issues. Provides the caller with the callback identification (ID) number by return e-mail or by voice message. Forwards the call to the appropriate group/person within the IS department. Reports any deviations to the Customer Service Team Leader for follow-up.
  • Maintains records required to supplement console log, including problem documentation and actions taken, file identification and similar data. Handles input and output media with due care for integrity of data and utility of media for subsequent use.
  • Observes ongoing operations and analyzes performance to identify problems. Interprets console messages from system software or applications program and performs required actions. Initiates corrective action where required and within the scope of knowledge and authority.
  • Sets up and operates peripheral devices and freestanding support equipment. Performs activities of peripheral equipment operations. Loads peripheral equipment such as tapes and printer paper for operating runs.
  • Fosters a team approach to internal and external customers. Actively participates as a team member. Demonstrates a cooperative attitude by being tactful, sensitive, and using sound judgment when relating to others. Strives to recognize and evaluate strengths and weaknesses on an ongoing basis.
  • Follows and executes jobs listed on departmental run sheet. Performs routine preventive maintenance as specified by device manufacturers and installation standards. Fulfills administrative reporting requirements.

What you will need:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate's Degree in IS or related field (or experience equivalent) preferred.
  • 1 year in data center operations and Microsoft Office applications preferred.
