Sr. Epic Hospital Billing Application Analyst, Hybrid, Jacksonville, Baptist Digital Solutions Center

The Sr. Epic Hospital Billing Application Analyst acts as a vital link between operations and information technology, ensuring Epic Hospital Billing functionality operates effectively across the organization. This role requires a strong understanding of hospital billing, revenue cycle operations, claims processing, charge capture, reimbursement, and the technical systems that support compliant and efficient billing workflows. The Senior Analyst translates complex operational and business requirements into effective Epic solutions while helping maintain system integrity, improve automation, optimize workflows, and support organizational revenue cycle goals. This role also serves as a technical resource for complex application initiatives and provides guidance and mentorship to other analysts. A significant portion of the analyst's day is devoted to resolving break fix issues, performing routine maintenance, monitoring system performance, and troubleshooting complex Hospital Billing workflows, interfaces, integrations, and downstream dependencies. Responsibilities include applying and validating Epic quarterly updates, working with Epic Technical Services, performing application testing, investigating billing and claims issues, and supporting enhancements across the revenue cycle. The Sr. Epic Hospital Billing Application Analyst collaborates closely with Revenue Cycle, Finance, Patient Financial Services, operational leaders, technical teams, and other Epic application teams. The analyst partners with stakeholders to identify workflow improvements, develop system enhancements, support enterprise initiatives, and ensure Epic Hospital Billing solutions align with operational and regulatory requirements.

As the Sr. Epic Hospital Billing Application Analyst, you will be responsible for:

  • Lead complex application initiatives, including project management responsibilities, while mentoring junior analysts and promoting operational and technical best practices.
  • Provide advanced technical expertise in the development, implementation, optimization, and support of highly complex, enterprise wide and cross functional applications, integrations, and technical projects.
  • Analyze and translate complex Hospital Billing, Revenue Cycle, and business workflow requirements into efficient and effective Epic application solutions.
  • Partner with Revenue Cycle leaders, Finance, Patient Financial Services, operational stakeholders, technical teams, and other Epic application teams to develop and optimize system functionality.
  • Plan, design, develop, build, validate, test, implement, evaluate, maintain, and provide ongoing troubleshooting and support for Epic Hospital Billing components.
  • Perform quality assurance and integrated testing of current and newly released Epic functionality to ensure system reliability and minimize disruption to billing operations.
  • Support and optimize workflows related to charge capture, claims processing, billing, reimbursement, accounts receivable, follow up, payment processing, adjustments, and related revenue cycle functions.
  • Investigate and resolve complex application incidents, workflow issues, system defects, and integration concerns.
  • Coordinate projects and system changes across multiple Epic applications and develop application specific enhancements, solutions, and reports aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Support Epic upgrades, quarterly releases, optimization initiatives, regulatory changes, and enterprise projects.
  • Maintain system documentation, workflow diagrams, testing documentation, and application build standards.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource and provide guidance, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to other application analysts.
  • Provide 24/7 support for applications within your area of responsibility.

Experience 1 to 2 years of project management or project leadership experience required.

Minimum of 2 years of related application, healthcare IT, or revenue cycle experience required.

Strong understanding of Epic Hospital Billing workflows preferred.

Experience with Epic Hospital Billing build, configuration, implementation, optimization, and ongoing support preferred.

Experience with Epic HB Claims and Charge Router preferred.

Knowledge of hospital revenue cycle operations, including billing, claims, charge capture, reimbursement, accounts receivable, and follow up preferred.

Experience with Epic upgrades, quarterly releases, integrated testing, and application optimization preferred.

Ability to analyze and translate complex clinical and/or business workflows and documentation requirements into efficient and effective application solutions preferred.

Experience collaborating with Revenue Cycle, Finance, operational leaders, and cross functional technical teams strongly preferred.

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex application issues and identify root causes and sustainable solutions preferred.

Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other analysts preferred.

Education Required High school diploma.

Degree Preferred Bachelor's degree.

Certifications Epic certification required.

Epic Hospital Billing certification preferred.

Epic HB Claims certification preferred.

Epic Charge Router certification preferred.

Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) certification preferred.
