Job description

Description:

Horizon Construction Group, Inc. is seeking a driven, field-tested Site Development Field Superintendent to take ownership of the most critical early phase of our multifamily construction projects. This is a newly created opportunity for a leader who thrives in the field, knows how to keep work moving, and takes pride in setting a project up for success from day one. If you are energized by grading, utilities, infrastructure coordination, and solving problems before they impact schedule, this is a chance to step into a high-impact role with a growing company that values accountability, teamwork, and execution.

Why Join Horizon Construction Group?
  • Step into a newly created position with real ownership and visibility.
  • Play a critical role in shaping the success of large-site, ground-up apartment communities.
  • Lead the field during the most schedule-sensitive phase of the project.
  • Work with a team that values practical leadership, strong communication, and getting the job done right the first time.
  • Join a company where your field expertise helps drive quality, safety, and production across multiple projects.
What Youโ€™ll Do
  • In this role, you will lead site development activities during the first 6 to 12 weeks of a project, taking the site from mobilization through rough grading, underground utility installation, and readiness for vertical construction. You will coordinate civil subcontractors, utilities, survey, inspections, and daily field activity while maintaining a sharp focus on production, safety, and schedule.
  • Lead early-phase sitework including mobilization, erosion control, access, grading, and underground infrastructure.
  • Coordinate installation of storm, sanitary, domestic water, fire service, and dry utilities.
  • Manage survey, layout verification, inspections, testing, and documentation.
  • Drive short-interval planning and keep civil activities on track with a 2 to 4 week look-ahead mindset.
  • Identify and solve field issues before they affect cost, quality, or vertical start dates.
  • Enforce high safety standards for trenching, equipment operations, and daily site coordination.
  • Partner with project teams, subcontractors, utility providers, and inspectors to maintain momentum and accountability.
  • Support a smooth turnover from sitework to foundations and vertical construction.
Youโ€™ll Be a Great Fit If You Are

A proactive field leader who does not wait for problems to escalate. You know how to organize work, communicate clearly, hold teams accountable, and make sound decisions in the field. You take pride in quality, keep safety front and center, and understand that strong early-site execution sets the tone for the entire project.

Build the Start of Something Great

If you are ready to take the lead on critical site development work and help shape successful projects from the ground up, we encourage you to apply. Horizon Construction

Requirements:What Weโ€™re Looking For
  • 5+ years of field leadership experience in civil sitework, earthwork, or underground utilities.
  • Strong knowledge of grading, storm, sanitary, water, dry utility coordination, and trench safety requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil plans, utility profiles, grading plans, and construction details.
  • Proven ability to drive schedules, coordinate multiple moving parts, and keep crews aligned to milestones.
  • Confidence working with subcontractors, inspectors, survey teams, and project managers in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and willingness to travel as needed, with a preferred home base in the Southeast Wisconsin area.
  • Experience in multifamily site development is required.
