Job description

Description

W-Industries Technology Solutions Group (Houston, Tx) is looking for a mid to senior level control systems engineer in the design, development, programming, testing of Honeywell DCS-based Control Systems in the Industrial Petrochemical sector. 

Requirements

Job Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Development of Control System Functional Specifications
  • Control System Design and capacity analysis
  • Development of DCS Logic and Interface software applications compliant with customer/company specifications and/or applicable industry standards
  • Development / Execution of Test Procedures
  • Development of Operations Manuals
  • Remote Support / Troubleshooting of system after installation
  • Coordination with project team for scheduling/ scope management and execution 


Required Skills and Competencies

  • Fundamental Competencies
  • Microsoft Windows operating system(s)
  • MS Office Applications
  • Read and understand P&IDs and general process specifications
  • Plant wide and package control system architecture
  • Safety within control system application
  • Strong/ clear written and verbal communication skills with internal team members and external clients.
  • Self-motivated with desire to work autonomously. Strong problem solving skills.
  • Technical writing
  • General terminology within the Oil and Gas industrial sector. Others sectors are a plus.


Controls

  • Configure/maintain Honeywell DCS based control systems 
  • Honeywell Visualization (HMI) configuration
  • Other controllers, HMIs and general programming languages are a plus.
  • Controller, I/O, communication module specification, configuration and wiring.
  • Development of documentation (Functional Specification, Control Narrative, I/O List, Cause and Effect, Operations Manual, Testing Procedure)


Telecommunication

  • Knowledge of Network Architecture
  • Knowledge of multiple Control Communication Protocols - EthenetIP, Modbus, OPC/DA, OPC/UA, Profibus/net, CIP, DLR
  • Specification and configuration of plant specific instrumentation.


Electrical

  • Control System Design (Block Diagram, Panel Layout and Wiring Diagrams, DC Load List, Hazardous Area, etc) 


Required Education and Experience

  • College Degree or Vocational Certificate in relevant field (with 10 years of experience).
  • Must pass background check/ drug screen 
  • 4 years - Programming and support of Honeywell DCS and related control systems 

Travel Requirements

  • Work location to be primarily in Houston and the surrounding area.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time to other locations as required.
  • Most travel is based in Texas/Louisiana.  
  • Typical schedule is 8 to 5 Monday through Friday.
  • Travel may require extended hours.
  • All billable hours will be paid at the same rate.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
