Job description

JOB TITLE: Educator

REPORTS TO: Center Success Coach or Site Supervisor

SUMMARY:

The Educator provides essential assistance in the daily operation of the Firewall Centers program. Throughout the after-school day, the Educator will provide supervision of students and school facilities. The Educator will work in coordination with school faculty and Firewall staff to keep the program running safely and smoothly. In addition, the Educator will support with student behavior management, tutoring/homework help, and teach curriculum.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor classrooms, cafeteria, hallways, restrooms to ensure safety for all until dismissal time
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Maintain good working relationships and professional demeanor with Firewall staff, students, and parents
  • Perform any other educator-related duties as assigned
  • Teach and assist the youth with specific curriculum
  • Assist youth with homework and academic tutoring
  • Spearhead enrichment activities
  • Report unusual incidents or problems to Site Supervisor
  • Be positive and professional role model to youth, other staff, and parents
  • Follow all company policies and procedures

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Review the Lessons and enrichment curriculum
  • Follow the daily Center’s Schedule
  • Assist in gathering the materials needed for each activity
  • Assist with the Center’s Flow (Cafeteria, Homework Help, Outdoor activities and supervision of the students at all times)
  • Maintain good classroom management techniques
  • Communicate any concerns with the Site Supervisor
  • Collaborate in the Dismissal and end of the day tasks
  • Track working hours using Firewall database (Zech)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Teacher’s Certificate
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • (Elementary Staff Only) Obtain DCF clearance

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree or bachelor's Degree
  • Experience working in a camp or school setting

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Skill and ability to use and operate a laptop, tablet, and/or smartphone
