Job description

Private Homeschool Teacher / Family Educator Location: Escondido, CA 92026 Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 9:00 AM–2:00 PM Hours: Approximately 20–25 hours per week Pay: $35-40 per hour, depending on experience About the Position We are seeking an experienced, dependable educator to manage the day-to-day homeschooling of children in our home in Escondido. This is not a traditional tutoring or childcare position. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the school day and independently guide students through an established homeschool curriculum. The ideal person will be comfortable working with children at different grade levels simultaneously and knows how to keep one student productively engaged while providing direct instruction to another. The curriculum and educational materials will be provided. We need an educator who can take those resources and confidently run the school day from approximately 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Responsibilities - Provide daily instruction using the selected homeschool curriculum - Teach and supervise students working at different grade levels - Create an organized and productive daily school routine - Explain concepts and provide additional instruction when students need help - Assign and review daily coursework - Grade/check completed work and monitor academic progress - Keep students engaged, focused, and accountable - Identify areas where additional practice or support is needed - Provide the parent with regular, straightforward updates on progress - Help students gradually become more independent learners What We're Looking For - Previous teaching, homeschool, or substantial educational experience - Comfortable teaching multiple grade levels - Strong classroom-management and organizational skills - Patient, dependable, encouraging, and confident with children - Able to work independently without requiring significant day-to-day direction from the parent - Strong communication skills - Reliable transportation California teaching credential is preferred but not required. We are particularly interested in hearing from experienced current or former teachers, retired educators, homeschool educators, and other professionals with significant experience teaching children. The Environment This position offers an opportunity to focus on teaching in a small, private setting without many of the administrative demands and large classroom sizes found in traditional schools. Our goal is simple: we provide the curriculum and educational resources, and you take ownership of the school day. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys teaching and would value a consistent Monday–Friday daytime schedule working closely with a family. Expected schedule: Approximately 9:00 AM–2:00 PM initially. As routines and student independence develop, the schedule may eventually require fewer daily hours. Compensation: $40–$45/hour depending on qualifications and experience. Please apply with a resume and a brief description of your teaching or educational experience, including any experience working with students at multiple grade levels.
