Licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) who work in home health provide patient care at the patient's home. Your specific job duties vary, depending on the needs of your client. But general responsibilities may include feeding patients, assisting with bathing and grooming, giving injections and medication, caring for wounds, recording vital signs, tracking medical history, monitoring health status, and keeping detailed documents on patient progress. You also serve as a companion to your client, playing board games or conversing with them. LVNs with home health clients make sure to communicate with the family to provide resources and support, as well as relay information to doctors and other healthcare professionals who are part of the treatment plan. An LVN may visit multiple homes im a week or focus on one patient at a time.
