At Heritage, we foster a dynamic and collaborative environment where your contributions truly make a difference. We are searching for a Collector to join our amazing team!


The Collector is responsible for performing collection activities on past-due member accounts, primarily for loans (auto/vehicle, mortgage and home equity, credit cards, and other consumer products). The key focus of this position is to assist the department in assessing time-sensitive matters such as early delinquencies and total asset loss scenarios. Additionally, the Collector will maintain strong communication and relationships with other internal departments and external third parties and provide support on other collection projects as needed.


What you’ll do:

  • Call, text, and email borrowers on past-due loans to obtain payment and/or make payment arrangements.
  • Discuss and potentially offer financial arrangements to members on their delinquent account(s).
  • Examine potential financial arrangement options for members who have delinquent accounts to alleviate past due status.
  • Maintain a current and detailed understanding of past-due consumer loan and mortgage loan products.
  • Perform various skip-tracing methods on members without viable contact information.
  • Stay up to date on all collection policies and best practices.
  • Adhere to all collection laws and regulations to maintain proper policies and practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience Required:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • One year of collection or financial industry experience preferred.
  • Familiar with default and enforcement clauses.
  • Basic understanding of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
  • Understanding of applicable repossession laws.
  • Understanding of real estate collection.
  • Basic level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent organizational skills, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Ability to work with a team and independently.
