By applying engineering fundamentals to precision tooling applications, you will support manufacturing operations and the commercialization of new products by partnering with Product Design and NPI teams. Additionally, you will work directly with experienced engineers and shop personnel to resolve design problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, service requirements, manufacturing procedures, and costs of tooling.

THE DETAILS:

Complete Design Projects

  • Design and detail stamping dies, fixtures, gauges, and components with minimal guidance.
  • Create and maintain accurate CAD models, 2D drawings, and documentation to standards.
  • Process engineering changes, product updates, and tooling revisions.
  • Manage projects of moderate scope independently.
  • Work autonomously on undefined projects.
  • Support design libraries, standards, and best practices documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvement in tooling, part quality, and production efficiency.
  • Perform additional design, analysis, and documentation tasks as needed.

Team Support & Development

  • Enhance technical skills through mentoring and increasing responsibility.
  • Lead or contribute to process improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate project status, identify risks early, and deliver on schedule.
  • Seek feedback to improve designs and engineering judgment.
  • Engage experts across the organization to build technical capabilities.

Communication and Documentation

  • Prepare BOMs and print packages.
  • Submit ECRs.
  • Provide project status reports and management documents.
  • Present to leadership and external, nontechnical audiences.
  • Document projects, tests, and recommendations for internal use.
  • Conduct design reviews and produce technical reports.
  • Create training materials and instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required; Design, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • 3-5 years' experience in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, or Fabrication preferred
  • Skilled in CAD software for 2D/3D modeling (SolidWorks, Creo, NX, CATIA, AutoCAD)
  • Knowledge of machining processes (grinding, milling, EDM), metal stamping, cold forming, and prototype tooling
  • Proficient in 3D modeling (SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor)
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with data-driven recommendations
  • Effective decision making, teamwork, and ability to work independently
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities
  • Committed to continuous process and technical improvement using performance data
  • Hands-on approach: Support stamping process observation and die trials on shop floor
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
