About the Float Pool

Float pool nurses are uniquely positioned to create positive change. By transitioning between various assignments, they provide support across multiple hospital units. They possess advanced critical thinking abilities, extensive clinical knowledge, and the capacity to remain composed in high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities:
  • Under the guidance of the Director, Manager, or Nurse Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) will coordinate and deliver patient care, taking individual responsibility and accountability for nursing services.
  • The RN will ensure that nursing care aligns with hospital policies, state Nursing Practice Acts, ANA Standards of Practice, and both generic and unit-specific standards.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Missouri is required. If only a multistate RN license is provided upon hire, a Missouri RN license must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • BLS certification is required at the time of hire and must be maintained.
  • ACLS certification is required within six months of hire.
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification is required within 90 days of hire and must be renewed annually.
  • Documentation of at least eight (8) hours of cerebrovascular (stroke) related continuing nursing education is required each fiscal year.
  • Credentialing in trauma care (TNCC) must be completed within six months of assignment, along with documentation of eight (8) hours of trauma-related continuing nursing education annually.
  • 1-2 years of prior nursing experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a facility of similar size and services is preferred.
  • Previous experience in emergency, pre-hospital, or critical care settings is advantageous.
