Job description

Description:

The primary function of the registered CT technologist at Raleigh Radiology is to provide CT studies and radiography to outpatients. The technologist is responsible for the coordination of patient care. He/She follows established protocols, policies, procedures, and specific instructions. The technologist is registered in the following modalities: CT and radiography. Rotation through all modalities for which the technologist is trained and registered is required.

Requirements:

General Diagnostic Duties

  • Uphold professional care standards and patient confidentiality.
  • Follow Raleigh Radiology policies and procedures.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures safely and efficiently.
  • Assess and prioritize patient needs, including discharge teaching.
  • Record and report patient care observations.
  • Administer contrast and assist with tests and procedures.
  • Efficiently use supplies and ensure equipment is maintained.
  • Collaborate with co-workers and physicians.
  • Maintain clear communication and utilize teaching opportunities.
  • Handle emergencies and maintain a safe environment.
  • Serve as a team player and role model, demonstrating courtesy and respect.
  • Perform additional assigned duties.

Patient Care Activities

  • Obtain and document patient history and assessments.
  • Engage with patients to ensure a positive experience.
  • Perform ongoing patient assessments during visits.
  • Monitor patient conditions and document changes.
  • Assist with procedures and emergency situations.
  • Provide accurate patient history to Radiologists for image interpretation.
  • Communicate effectively with peers and other personnel to ensure quality patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in diagnostic radiology.
  • Strong understanding of radiological procedures and patient care.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to handle emergencies and maintain a calm demeanor.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE

A. Education: Graduate from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology with additional documented training in CT.

B. Experience: Previous experience in a busy office or hospital is preferred.


Certification:

1. CPR is required or must be obtained within the first 6-months of employment. Continuous certification in CPR is required.

2. Successful completion of registry for Radiologic Technologists with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists must be achieved within 12-months of employment. RT-R (ARRT)

3. Successful completion of registry in CT with ARRT must be achieved within 12-months of employment. RT-R(C)(ARRT) or commencement of training in CT.


D. Licensure: None


DESIRED SKILLS

Basic patient care skills, including first-aid and CPR. Excellent technical skills in CT and diagnostic radiographs are required. Ability to work independently, make sound decisions based on patient condition, and ability to follow directions. Flexibility, dependability, and professionalism required.
