Low Voltage Technician - Raleigh-Durham, NC
Durham, NC (with travel to Raleigh/Durham area sites)
About the Role
We are looking for a Low Voltage Technician for a short-term project based out of Durham, NC, with the possibility of additional work at nearby sites throughout the Raleigh/Durham area. This is a hands-on cable installation role - the work is straightforward: pulling some cable, terminating a high volume of jacks, installing faceplates, and running remotes into a tester for certification. This is a project-based position expected to run 1-2 months, with potential for extension or follow-on work depending on performance and project needs.
This is a great fit for a technician who is efficient, detail-oriented, and comfortable with high-volume termination work.
Location: Initial site in Durham, NC; must be willing and able to travel to additional sites in the Raleigh/Durham area as needed
Duration: Approximately 1-2 months
Schedule: 1st shift
Responsibilities
  • Pull cable as needed to support jack terminations and drop locations
  • Terminate a high volume of Cat5e/Cat6 (or as specified) data jacks accurately and to spec
  • Install faceplates and finish out completed drops
  • Run remote test units to the far end of cable runs and perform certification testing (Fluke or similar tester)
  • Label jacks, faceplates, and cable runs per project standards
  • Follow project documentation, cabling schedules, and site-specific instructions
  • Travel between job sites in the Raleigh/Durham area as assigned
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area at each site
  • Communicate progress and any issues to the project lead/supervisor
Requirements
  • Prior experience terminating low voltage/data jacks (Cat5e/Cat6) required
  • Experience running cable testers and remotes for certification testing required
  • Comfortable with high-volume, repetitive termination work and maintaining consistent quality
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to multiple sites across the Raleigh/Durham area
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs and work in various physical positions (kneeling, standing, overhead work)
  • Own basic hand tools for termination work (punch down tool, cable strippers, etc.) preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to pass a background check

Preferred (not required):
  • BICSI training or certification
  • Experience with Fluke DSX or similar certification testers
  • Prior experience on short-term/project-based low voltage installs
