Calvary Bible Church (Kalamazoo, MI) – Associate Pastor of Family and Global Ministries The Big Picture

Calvary Bible Church (calvarybible.org) is prayerfully seeking an Associate Pastor of Family and Global Ministries to mobilize the congregation for active engagement in global outreach and the discipling of all nations; to equip, support, and develop ministry volunteers for effective service; and to shepherd families—especially parents—toward spiritual maturity and Christ-centered leadership in the home and the local church.

Responsibilities
  • Family Ministries
    • Shepherding Responsibilities within Children Ministries
      • Shepherd and Oversee the Children’s Ministry Director, providing direction for, clarity in, and communication of ministry decisions to Children’s Ministry volunteers and families.
      • Shepherd the Children’s Ministry Leadership Team through regular, intentional engagement that provides direction, fosters unity in prayer, addresses challenges, ensures alignment with church standards, and supports their care of ministry volunteers.
      • To shepherd families with children from nursery through 5th grade by providing pastoral care, targeted support, and biblical counseling, while partnering with elders to address family needs and encouraging active engagement in LifeGroups and the broader life of the church.
      • To develop and deliver training that equips families for faithful, biblically grounded parenting and marriage, in collaboration with pastoral leadership.
      • To oversee effective communication across Children’s Ministry by coordinating with parents, volunteers, staff, and pastors, and ensuring proactive engagement and follow-up with new families.
  • Global Ministries
    • Cultivate vision and awareness by developing in the congregation a biblical understanding of global disciple-making and the needs of unreached peoples.
    • Mobilize the church for mission by engaging the congregation in prayer, giving, sending, welcoming, and local outreach among immigrant communities.
    • Develop and support global workers through assessment, pastoral care, pre-field training, and ongoing communication and encouragement.
    • Lead and strengthen the Global Ministries Council by providing vision, fostering unity, and guiding strategic planning and goal evaluation.
    • Ensure effective stewardship and alignment by overseeing the Global Ministries budget and coordinating with LifeGroups to support global partners.
    • Maintain strong communication and care systems by facilitating communication between the church and global partners and providing intentional care, especially during partner visits.
  • General
    • Teach and preach as needed.
    • Participate in weekly Executive Team meetings.
    • Participate in monthly elder meetings.
    • Take assignments from pastor and elder meetings and participate in committees as assigned.
    • Assist in MOC duties if needed.
Qualifications
  • Spiritual: Must meet the Biblical requirements of an Elder (1 Tim. 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9); consistent Christ-like character evidencing a growing relationship with Jesus Christ; membership at Calvary
  • Bible Church (CBC) including full agreement with the CBC Constitution and Statement of Faith; and faithful attendance at CBC worship services and support of CBC ministries.
  • Personal: Must have excellent leadership, communication, and relational skills; be enthusiastic and positive; be a team player who can take initiative while submitting to leadership; and be highly organized.
  • Aspirational: Enthusiastic support for the pastors’ and elders’ philosophy of ministry and vision.
  • Educational: M.Div. or willingness to pursue an M.Div.
  • Professional: 3-5 years of relevant experience. Willingness and ability to shepherd and counsel with biblical counsel-type principles (e.g. ACBC).
