Job description

Description

Design Solutions. Solve Real Manufacturing Challenges. See Your Ideas Come to Life.

If you're looking for a role where your engineering work extends beyond the computer screen, this is your opportunity.

At Sacoma Specialty Products, you'll work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to design fixtures, laser blanks, and tooling that support prototype, fabricated, and machined components. From creating 2D and 3D models to improving manufacturing methods and supporting new customer projects, you'll play an important role in developing practical engineering solutions that help drive our operations forward.

This is a hands-on engineering position for someone who enjoys solving problems, collaborating with people on the production floor, and continuously improving the way products are manufactured. You'll have the opportunity to spend time in both the engineering office and the manufacturing environment, working alongside skilled fabricators, machinists, and production teams to develop solutions that make a difference.

If you're motivated by variety, enjoy taking initiative, and want to be part of a growing manufacturing team where your ideas and technical expertise are valued, we'd love to hear from you.

Why Join Sacoma?
  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • Weekly pay
  • Quarterly bonus opportunities
  • First Shift
  • Climate-controlled manufacturing facility
  • Unlimited employee referral bonus program
  • Stable, growing company with long-term career opportunities
  • Collaborative engineering environment where you'll work closely with manufacturing teams
  • Opportunity to work on a variety of prototype, fabricated, and machined components

What You'll Do

As a Manufacturing Design Engineer, you'll support engineering projects from design through manufacturing by developing tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing solutions that improve quality, efficiency, and productivity.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design fixtures, laser blanks, and dies for processing prototype, fabricated, and machined parts.
  • Create 2D and 3D models, assemblies, bills of material (BOMs), and shop drawings using AutoCAD and Creo.
  • Assist with project estimating and customer quoting.
  • Evaluate existing designs for cost reduction opportunities and implement more efficient manufacturing methods.
  • Perform engineering calculations to support material sizing and selection.
  • Analyze designs to ensure internal and external standards are met, including calculations, forces, and loads.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining company design standards to streamline engineering processes.
  • Spend time in the manufacturing and prototyping areas supporting engineering projects.
  • Interact effectively with manufacturing personnel, supervisors, managers, customers, and other departments.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, organization, attention to detail, and the ability to perform assigned work with minimal direction.

Requirements

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving manufacturing challenges and working in a collaborative engineering environment.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Associate degree (minimum two-year technical degree) in a related technical field.
  • Minimum of three years of design experience.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with CAD software; AutoCAD and Creo preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience creating shop drawings and working with document libraries.
  • Knowledge of welding and metal fabrication standards.
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), including the ability to interpret and apply it.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with metal forming and stamping die design is desirable.

Why You'll Enjoy Working Here

At Sacoma Specialty Products, engineering is closely connected to manufacturing. You'll have the opportunity to collaborate with experienced teammates, contribute to meaningful engineering projects, and see your work implemented on the production floor. We value initiative, problem-solving, and continuous improvement, and we're looking for someone who shares these values and is eager to make a meaningful contribution to our team.

If you're ready to apply your engineering expertise in a hands-on manufacturing environment where every project presents a new opportunity to solve problems and improve processes, we encourage you to apply today.
