How much do home based flight attendant jobs pay per year?

As of Aug 16, 2026, the average yearly pay for home based flight attendant in the United States is $47,079.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $35,500.00 and $50,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is a home based flight attendant?

A Home Based Flight Attendant is a cabin crew member who operates flights while living outside of an airline's hub city. Instead of being based at a specific airport, they typically commute to assigned flights from their home location. They perform the same duties as traditional flight attendants, including ensuring passenger safety, providing in-flight service, and handling emergencies. This role offers flexibility but requires availability for scheduled trips, often with short notice.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a home based flight attendant?

To thrive as a Home Based Flight Attendant, you need strong customer service, safety awareness, and interpersonal skills, typically supported by a high school diploma and completion of specialized airline training. Familiarity with airline communication systems, reservation platforms, and required certifications such as CPR and first aid are essential. Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, self-motivation, and the ability to handle scheduling flexibility set candidates apart in this role. These abilities are crucial for maintaining safety standards, providing excellent passenger experience, and efficiently working within a remote or hybrid operational model.

What does the typical work environment look like for a home based flight attendant?

As a Home Based Flight Attendant, you will primarily be 'on call' from your residence, traveling to the airport or designated departure city for assigned flights. Your home serves as your reporting base, and you’ll regularly communicate with scheduling teams and crew members via digital platforms. Although you won’t have a traditional in-office environment, you’ll need to stay prepared for quick deployment and maintain readiness at home with uniform, travel essentials, and necessary documents. This arrangement requires adaptability and self-discipline, but it offers flexibility and can reduce commute time compared to traditional base assignments.

How much do home based flight attendants get to be home?

Home-based flight attendants typically spend several days away from home during trips, with rest periods at home between assignments that can range from a few days to a week or more. The amount of time spent at home varies depending on the airline, flight schedule, and route assignments, but they generally have scheduled days off between trips to rest and recover. Flexibility and scheduling are important aspects of this role, and some airlines offer more predictable home time than others.

What is the easiest airline to get hired as a home based flight attendant?

Home based flight attendant roles are typically offered by airlines that have remote customer service or support positions, rather than traditional flight attendant roles. Airlines that prioritize hiring for remote customer service, such as low-cost carriers or regional airlines, often have more accessible hiring processes for these positions, which may require good communication skills and relevant customer service experience.

Job description

Frontier Airlines
Where Safety, Service, and Adventure Take Flight

Pay: $25.50/hour

Why You’ll Love This Role
Frontier Airlines Flight Attendants are part of the cabin crew that keeps flights safe and on track. In this role, you’ll follow FAA safety procedures, provide exceptional customer service, and support flyers throughout the inflight experience. You’ll make a difference for people every day: often in small moments that matter.

What You’ll Do

  • Keep flyers safe and confident at 30,000 feet. Perform FAA safety procedures, conduct preflight equipment checks, operate aircraft doors/exits, and maintain full compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Deliver exceptional service to our Frontier flyers. Provide friendly, people-first support through clear communication, quick problem-solving, and warm hospitality throughout the journey.
  • Keep the cabin running smoothly. Lead galley setup, beverage/snack service, onboard sales, PA announcements, and maintain an organized, service-ready cabin environment.
  • Stay steady and ready when it matters most. Administer CPR/first aid, support emergency and security procedures, assist with evacuations, and provide calm, confident leadership.

Your First Steps with Frontier

  • 3.5 weeks of immersive training with lodging and meals provided, preparing you for all in-flight safety and service operations. Complete your Initial Operating Experience (IOE) to become a fully certified Frontier Flight Attendant. (Training is unpaid.)
  • After certification, you may begin on Reserve. Frontier is proud to offer one of the shortest reserve timelines in the industry, helping you move into a regular schedule sooner.
  • Multiple locations / bases: This Flight Attendant job supports multiple U.S. locations—new hires are assigned to one of our 13 bases based on business needs and seniority.
  • Seniority movement: As Frontier grows and continues hiring, seniority movement may increase over time, creating more schedule flexibility and base transfer opportunities, based on seniority and business needs.

What You’ll Bring

  • Valid passport book with at least 14 months of remaining validity and the ability to travel internationally
  • 20+ years old to begin the interview process
  • Fluent in English (read, write, speak)
  • 6+ months of customer service or guest-facing experience (hospitality, retail, food service, call center, or similar)
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional appearance; no visible hand, neck, or face tattoos
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Comfort assisting passengers in fast-paced, dynamic environments

This Role Includes

  • Standing for long periods and move safely throughout a pressurized cabin
  • Lifting and stowing 35–50 lb. bags and pushing/pulling 100-lb. galley carts
  • Reaching overhead up to 67” and operating aircraft doors, window exits, and emergency equipment
  • Listening for, hearing, and responding to chimes, announcements, call buttons, and crew instructions
  • Bending, balancing, and performing repetitive motions while assisting passengers
  • Securing yourself in a jumpseat with standard belts and harnesses (no extensions)

Additionally, you’ll be responsible for following all FAA and Frontier safety procedures; conducting preflight equipment checks; preparing and securing aircraft doors; assisting passengers during boarding/deplaning; providing safety demonstrations; performing onboard service and sales; ensuring cabin safety and security; and administering CPR/first aid when needed.

What You’ll Get

  • Flight perks and privileges on Frontier Airlines and 100+ partner airlines for you and eligible family members
  • Uniform allowance
  • Buddy passes for friends
  • Discounts on hotels, car rentals, cruises, and vacation packages
  • Lifestyle savings on phone plans, restaurants, movie tickets, luggage, and 2,000+ vendors
  • Paid holidays and vacation/sick time
  • 401(k) plan with company match
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance starting the 1st of the month after hire
  • Financial assistance through the HOPE League
  • Opportunities for volunteering and community service

We're committed to making air travel more affordable, accessible, and enjoyable — and we’re looking for compassionate, safety-driven Flight Attendants to help us make it happen.
