If you're a mechanically skilled technician who prefers working in the field - not stuck in a shop or behind a desk - this role is for you.
HODGE is hiring a home-based Industrial Equipment Service Technician to support forklifts and material handling equipment across the Cedar Rapids area and surrounding Eastern Iowa territory. This position offers independence, local daytime travel, modern diagnostic tools, and a team that treats people like family.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll spend your day delivering hands-on service where it counts, at customer sites, keeping their equipment safe, reliable, and productive. Your day-to-day work includes:
  • Performing preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns and extend equipment life
  • Diagnosing and repairing forklifts and material handling equipment, including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
  • Using computer-based diagnostic tools to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Traveling locally to customer sites within your assigned service territory
  • Managing parts usage, purchase orders, and service documentation accurately
  • Communicating clearly with customers, sales teammates, and the Dubuque-based service leadership team
  • Following OSHA standards, PPE requirements, and company safety protocols-safety always comes first
  • Identifying opportunities to improve service efficiency, reliability, and customer satisfaction
  • Staying current on evolving equipment technology, tools, and best practices conditions.

How This Role Is Structured
  • Home-based field service position
  • Primary service coverage around the Cedar Rapids area, with occasional support in nearby Eastern Iowa locations
  • Reports to the Dubuque branch, with centralized sales, service and leadership support.
  • Local day travel; limited overnight travel
  • Operate company equipment safely and professionally while representing HODGE at customer locations
