Job description

Clinician-Home Based Services

The Children's Center of Wayne County provides evidence-based clinical therapy to children who deal with mental, behavioral, emotional, intellectual, and developmental health and educational challenges or may have experienced trauma.

The clinician, homebased FLSA: Exempt, will utilize the Family Centered Planning (FCP) model to deliver intense clinical services to children and families enrolled in the Homebase program.

Job requirements include a master's degree and Michigan clinical license in a mental health related field such as social work, psychology, or counseling. A minimum of 1 year of experience providing and managing mental/behavioral health services with children and families is required. The ability to assess, diagnose, develop treatment plans and provide crisis interventions is necessary. The clinician must maintain a positive relationship with clients, agency staff, coworkers, referring sources, community resources, and contractors. Intermediate computer skills related to windows navigation, Microsoft Office, and general office equipment are required. The clinician must provide clearance that there is no record and/or convictions as a perpetrator of child abuse and/or neglect in the State of Michigan Child Abuse/Neglect Central Registry and other states of residency over the past 5 years. Proof of having a current, valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance is required.

Essential functions include utilizing the FCP model to coordinate and monitor delivery of services and implementation of behaviorally specific treatment goals and objectives for assigned clients including assessment, treatment, coordination of referrals and additional services with outside providers. The clinician will provide a variety of services to assigned caseload, including but not limited to: individual and family therapy, case consultations, advocacy, crisis intervention, crisis prevention, referral for short-term and long-term hospitalization. The clinician will link, coordinate and monitor ancillary service delivery. All required paperwork and psychiatric referrals will be completed according to the agency and program deadline. Clinical records, reports, case notes, and all other client documentation will be maintained in the appropriate electronic systems, meeting all agency, contractual or billing requirements or deadlines. A flexible schedule will be maintained in order to appropriately deliver services to meet client needs in the home, school, community, or agency by working daytime and evening hours. The clinician will attend medication reviews, psychiatric evaluations, case consultations, IEP meetings, and other community based meetings as needed. In collaboration with the family, the clinician will work with other internal and external partners (i.e. schools, faith community, other human services organizations) to develop natural supports to eliminate barriers to services, enhance existing community services or develop new services based on the needs of The Children's Center families. Performance goals and expectations will be developed with immediate supervisor, annually. The clinician will participate in weekly supervision with Homebased supervisor or designee. The clinician will participate in all clinical trainings and team meetings.

Additional functions include contributing to a positive workplace culture that demonstrates evidence of high accountability, inclusivity, and collaboration. The clinician will demonstrate a commitment to anti-racist practices, diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. The clinician will actively support and encourage creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive administrative and service delivery environment. The clinician will adhere to best practices, ethical standards, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The clinician will attend required agency and regulatory trainings and additional trainings based upon your position. Case records and all forms will be maintained within the agency guidelines and deadlines at a compliance rate of 95% or higher. A customer satisfaction rate of at least 90% and have fewer than 4 documented complaints from any source in a 12-month period. Service Activity Logs (SAL) and progress notes will be completed and submitted within 1 business day of providing services. Weekly direct service hours and caseload will be maintained within 95% of the program standards.

Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Ability to kneel, crawl, maneuver and interact with children on the floor or at a child's level. Ability to traverse stairs and other uneven terrain to gain access to and to maneuver throughout offsite locations including residential homes, office buildings and special event locations. Ability to tolerate exposure to computer screen and operate computer/keyboard and other office equipment on a frequent and/or continuous basis. Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to drive throughout Wayne County community on a daily basis.
