Job description

Everett Ship Repair is the Pacific Northwest Premier Ship Repair Facility. Founded in 2019, Everett Ship Repair offers vast ship repair capabilities from its facility in Everett, Washington, including repair, maintenance, and conversion services for any type of commercial vessels, with focus on commercial workboats and passenger vessels. With the US Navy as our neighbor, it is no secret that we are in aggressive pursuit of earning their business as we grow our footprint, skills, and profile in this market. With impressive dry-docking capacity, and an opportunity to be part of an emerging team of industry veterans and highly skilled tradesmen, ESR strives to continuously improve our repair and construction methods into efficient and reliable processes. We are now seeking a Dry Dock Maintenance Technician, who is responsible for supervising and coordinating maintenance, repair, modernization, and overhaul activities performed on the Everett Ship Repairs dry docks. This position ensures all work is executed in strict compliance with NAVSEA technical requirements. The Dry Dock Maintenance Technician supports equipment readiness, quality assurance, and operational availability objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform dry dock maintenance activities for all dry docks based on written procedures and schedules.
  • Execute work in compliance with NAVSEA Standard Items, Technical Manuals (TMs), drawings, and Work Specifications.
  • Enforce OSHA, NAVSEA, and shipyard safety requirements, including gas-free engineering, confined space entry, and hot work controls.
  • Monitor work progress, manpower utilization, material availability, cost performance, and schedule adherence.
  • Conduct inspections of mechanical, piping, and auxiliary systems during dry dock evolutions.
  • Ensure configuration control, work authorization, and documentation accuracy for all repairs and alterations.
  • Review and approve job hazard analyses (JHAs), work control forms, and test and inspection plans.
  • Participate in daily production meetings, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
  • Identify technical issues, growth work, or discrepancies and coordinate resolutions with the Dry Dock Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Support audits, inspections, and certifications conducted by NAVSEA, SUPSHIP, and DoD representatives.
  • Ensure all work supports equipment readiness, quality assurance, and fleet reliability objectives.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or higher degree.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in maintenance, overhaul, or shipyard operations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of preventive maintenance common practices.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements.
  • Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items. (Preferred)

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong decision-making skills in highly regulated environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and work specifications.
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail, quality, and safety.
  • Proficient in maintenance tracking systems, work controls, and documentation processes.

Security & Compliance

  • Compliance with ITAR, export control regulations, and classified material handling procedures is required.

Working Conditions

  • Work performed in naval shipyards, dry docks, and restricted-access facilities.
  • May require extended hours, shift work, weekend support, and on-call availability during critical evolutions.
  • Exposure to confined spaces, heights, hazardous materials, noise, and marine environments.
  • Strict adherence to PPE, safety protocols, and security procedures is mandatory.
