Position Overview

At Foundation Building Materials (FBM), our Drivers/Material Handler are essential-delivering materials safely, efficiently, and with pride. Enjoy local routes, daily home time, competitive pay, and a supportive culture built on safety and respect.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Vehicle Operation/Delivery
    • Safely operate company vehicles (up to 26' trucks), including flatbeds, moffetts, cube vans, and boom trucks, in compliance with company and Transport Canada regulations
    • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and roadworthiness
    • Deliver building materials to job sites on time, unload and verify deliveries, and provide courteous, professional customer service
    • Inspect and secure truck loads before departure and ensure materials are properly staged per customer instructions
    • Possess basic knowledge of building materials, forklift operation, and delivery equipment
    • Operate forklift and other company vehicles and equipment as trained and instructed 
    • *Consistent material handling
  • Safety
    • Adheres to all driving regulations based on state and/or jurisdiction policies such as wearing a seatbelt
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment
    • Promote a safe and compliant work environment that adheres to the established safety guidelines of the Company and Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS), in addition to any state or local legislative regulations
    • Use proper lifting techniques
    • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment safety shoes and clothing
  • Communication
    • Communicate operational challenges and improvement ideas to the manager
    • Collaborate with team members and assist in other areas as needed to support operational goals
    • Must attend and participate in all required meetings in relation to material delivery and overall company
  • Trainings
    • Attend and participate in all required company training programs
  • Physical Job Requirements  
    • Frequent use of hands and arms for equipment operation, grasping and manipulation
    • Frequent driving or sitting in a truck, forklift or other similar equipment for multiple hours a day
    • Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying building materials weighing approximately 100 pounds, using proper lifting procedures; and occasionally pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying greater weights.  Pushing and pulling carts loaded carts over various distances and surfaces.  Some functions may be performed as a team
    • Additional physical requirements may be needed as duties are assigned
  • Miscellaneous

    Qualifications

    • Possess valid Class 5 License
    • Minimum 1-year consistent commercial driving experience
    • Works well in a team environment
    • Display leadership and may be requested to direct and supervise within their department

    The listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position. The actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and cost of living in the assigned market. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.

    • Base: $ 21.00-23.00 per hour
    • Job Type: Full-Time
