Job description

About Wellmade

Wellmade is a design-build company based in San Leandro, California. We design, fabricate, and install premium residential structures – backyard Sheds, ADUs, Saunas, and even homes – using a proprietary prefabricated system, built in our own warehouse, managed start to finish by our team. We’re architect-founded, American-made, and focused on doing one thing - deliver well-build product. We are challenging how construction industry work by providing a fixed price with a straightforward process for our clients. If that sounds like a good challenge for you, come join the team!

Role Description

  • Location: On-site
  • Type: Full-Time or Contract to hire
  • Compensation: $80,000 – $120,000 base salary

About the Role

This is not a traditional architecture role. We're looking for a creative force, someone who thinks in products, not just projects. You'll work in direct partnership with our lead architect to develop new product lines, define and protect the company's visual language, and bring custom projects to life from concept to completion.

The right person lives at the intersection of design, construction, and product development. You understand how things get built — and you care deeply about how they look, feel, and function. We don't care about your title history. We care about what you've created, how you think, and whether you're ready to help define what's next in this industry.

Responsibilities

  • Work with lead architect to develop new product lines from sketch to production-ready spec
  • Define and evolve the company's visual language across all products
  • Create design guidelines, material palettes, and specification standards
  • Work on custom projects - translate client vision into designs that are beautiful and buildable
  • Support client presentations, proposals, and product launches
  • Identify design-driven growth opportunities
  • Support marketing with visual aesthetics
  • Self-directed but collaborative — you own your work and play well with others

Qualifications

  • Degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Environmental Design, or a related field — Bachelor's or Master's
  • 5+ years in architectural or experiential design (preferred, not required — show us what you've built)
  • Advanced proficiency in Archicad (Revit is a plus)
  • Figma or Adobe suite is a plus
  • Solid understanding of construction documentation, fabrication, and spatial design principles

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in manufacturing, construction, fabrication, or start-up environments
  • Experience supporting executive leadership teams
  • Familiarity with scaling processes in high-growth companies
  • Construction administration experience on site

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Bonus and growth opportunities
  • PTO and paid holidays
  • Flexible schedule
  • Opportunity to work closely with executive leadership and help shape the company
