Job description

The AWS Core Networking Organization is looking for a Software Development Engineer to join our Network Product Development (NPD) org. The Engineer will work hand-in-hand with Software Development and Network Engineering teams to automate and invent new ways of operating Amazon's network. This role will interact with customers, leadership and senior peers.

This role will develop best practices, improve operational procedures, use a proactive mindset, deliver iterative impact for customers and help drive this same culture across the team.
We're looking for a Software Development Engineer (SDE) to develop & scale Software Systems that test/release/monitor our networking products that form the building blocks of Amazon's Cloud infrastructure. As SDE in Networking, you'll have a unique opportunity to shape the development of our products and network. The Amazon network is a fundamental contributor to the success of Amazon Web Services

It enables us to continue to scale the existing services, and to enable new services. You'll be working relentlessly to build software services that releases new OS versions, test and automation infrastructure services, new test systems, improve stability/observability/reliability of existing test systems that validate new hardware platforms and its operating system powering our Network. You will work closely with our Network Engineering teams that build the network, Software engineering teams that develop the Operating System and Development Experience teams to build software solutions and CI/CD pipelines that continuously develop/test/deploy Amazon's networking solutions.

Experience with building microservices, CI/CD tools, test and automation infrastructure frameworks will be a distinct advantage. You'll strive for simplicity and demonstrate significant creativity and high judgment. You have expertise which is both deep and broad; you're hands on, producing both detailed technical work and high-level Software design and test/automation architecture.

Ensure the quality of network is continually improving, as shown by increasing reliability due to continuous integration/test/deployment pipeline.
Develop integrated, flexible, and scalable services that integrate existing software and test systems.
Show creativity, integrate traditional automation, and test systems into software services.
Re-design infrastructure software and implement highly scalable solutions that validate Networking software and hardware solutions with high reliability.
Establish software design and development best practices and maintain expert knowledge regarding trends and technologies in the Cloud/Networking industry, Infrastructure as a Service, test automation and related fields.
A day in the life
You will be a hands-on technical contributor. You will work with customers to gather requirements and generate technical designs, and you will carry the project through all the software lifecycle stages. You'll develop products that enable builders to develop and operate robust, high-quality software and safely, securely, and reliably deploy it

You will use your strong leadership and communication skills to mentor other engineers and provide training and support for our technologies. You will have access to senior leadership and engineering staff.

The Release Engineering team leads critical initiatives that power AWS's network infrastructure deployment and reliability. We develop intelligent automation systems that seamlessly deploy operating systems, configurations, firmware and features across AWS's global datacenter network

Our innovative anomaly detection capabilities help safeguard network stability by proactively identifying and containing potential issues. As a cornerstone of AWS's networking infrastructure, we collaborate across organizational boundaries to build resilient, scalable solutions that enhance deployment reliability while reducing production defects. This role involves working with CI/CD pipelines and automated services that operates large scale network.

You will be responsible for scaling existing test solutions and build new services/systems that integrate combinations of services and systems that validate our networking products. You will develop software and systems that removes human touchpoints that continuously integrate/test/deploy new networking software and hardware products. You will own scale, stability, reliability, performance of software services that qualify new networking products that form the building blocks of Amazon's cloud infrastructure.

You will optimize the test suites, develop new automation framework, infrastructure services and pioneer automation driven validation.
