Job description

Located on the original Hudson’s site, Pine Hall pays homage to Detroit’s past—and the storied Pine Room—through vintage keepsakes and ice-cold cocktails featuring Michigan spirits. As the first Detroit outpost of Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group, founded in New York City in 1985, Pine Hall brings four decades of hospitality to the city, drawing on the spirit of beloved restaurants like Gramercy Tavern and Shake Shack.
 
We're proud to serve up classic cocktails made with spirits from close to home, cold beer, and tavern fare that feels familiar, but perhaps a bit better than you remembered.
 

Who you are: 

A vital member of the Service team, the Support role encompasses setting up the dining room, setting tables, clearing tables, pouring water, running food, working with servers and expediters, resetting the dining room, polishing glassware and various tasks that support service at the restaurant. 

Support team members may also assist our Front Door team by connecting with guests and visitors at the restaurant. This may also include plotting, planning, and updating the dining room to efficiently coordinate seatings throughout each service. 

What you’ll do:

  • Consistently support a culture of Enlightened Hospitality
  • Create a welcoming and hospitable environment for guests whether in person or over the phone
  • Partner with Maître D’ to quote accurate wait times while “finding the yes” for all guests
  • Properly answer guest inquiries with regards to restaurant hours of operation and basic operational information, menus, and reservations
  • Possess an understanding of proper steps of service and engage in table maintenance and resetting with efficiency, speed and grace
  • Stay informed and knowledgeable of all menu items and proper mise to accompany each dish
  • Maintain the high standards of cleanliness and proper appearance throughout all areas of the restaurant.
  • Act as a liaison between the guest, management, service staff and kitchen and communicate accordingly
  • Assists with Coat Check duties as needed
  • Work with efficiency and a sense of urgency while remaining composed
  • Demonstrates a passion for guest experience and an eagerness to learn and grow 

                      What we need from you:

                      • Experience in a guest facing role in a restaurant preferred, but not necessary
                      • Availability for lunch shifts
                      • Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time
                      • Ability to balance & carry multiple plates, glass racks and or/glasses, and lift objects up to 30 lbs. 
                      • English fluency and additional languages preferred, but not required
