Description

Holy Cross School in Kansas City, Missouri, seeks a full-time middle school teacher for the 2026-2027 Academic Year. Partnering with parents as primary educators, Holy Cross School extends the mission of the Church in forming true disciples of Jesus Christ. Through an education centered on Christ, we provide an integrated approach fostering a love for truth, beauty, and goodness. We seek to instill a natural desire for wisdom and virtue in all students.


The teacher serves the mission of the Catholic Church by planning, guiding, and evaluating the students' learning process within the framework of the school's philosophy, organization, and curriculum. The teacher provides the appropriate learning atmosphere and activities to maximize student competencies and skills for intellectual, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual growth. The teacher is responsible for keeping with school policies and the Diocesan Schools Administrative Manual.


The ideal candidate would have experience teaching elementary school, and a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is required.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of duties as assigned by building administration.
  • Demonstrate professional responsibility in confidentiality, sound judgment, dress, enforcing diocesan and school policies, and general behavior.
  • Manage behavior and set high behavior standards within the classroom and building.
  • Assess and monitor student progress.
  • Promote positive relationships and effective communication with all staff, parents, and students.
  • Prepare and implement practical lessons using the diocesan standards
  • Being an active member of a faith community and a model of Jesus's teaching.
  • Understand, support, and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the school's mission.

Requirements:

  • A valid teaching certificate
  • A bachelor's degree in education from an accredited university
