Job Summary:

The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing professional nursing care for assigned patients by the use and implementation of the Nursing Process of assessment, derivation of the nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation and re-evaluation of the care by using a holistic approach. The staff nurse is also responsible for preparing the patient and significant other for obtaining and maintaining an optimal level of health, in preparation for their discharge. The Staff Nurse is also responsible for the direct supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse and the Nursing Assistant, when applicable. The staff nurse is a contributing member to the multi-disciplinary Health Care Team and must be able to communicate the needs of the patient/significant others to all disciplines involved in the patient's hospitalization.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing program.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA) and be BLS certified.
  • Additional certifications are dependent on assigned care.
  • RN is responsible for continuous self-professional development by attending seminars and maintaining CEU's. The RN agrees to notify their supervisor should they need additional education pertaining to any area of their assigned duties.
