Weston is seeking a Project Engineer responsible forproject execution and control, and for ensuring adherence to project scope, budget, and time schedules from start-up through completion. They are accountable for handling specific technical aspects of projectsappropriate totheir field of discipline and functioning on multidisciplinary teams as both participants and leaders. They balance work on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of large projects and responses to proposals. Theyare responsible forimplementingquality designcontrol for the designs and projects under their control.

Location:Lincolnshire, IL or West Chester, PA or Austin, TX, or Lakewood, CO. Consideration will be given to applicants able to be present in other Weston offices throughout the country.

Expected Duties:

  • Support and execute civil and environmental engineering projects nationwide.
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, and calculations for execution of general civil project work related to remediation, earthworks and/or stormwater.
  • Act as a design leader for single or multi-disciplinary design teams.
  • Prepare technical approach, proposed budget, and schedule for new project proposals.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Lead the technical support personnel and/or design team for assigned projects. Assume responsibility for all design decisions for the assigned projects.
  • Performconceptual evaluations, calculations, design drawings and specifications, andvalidatethe calculations of team members. Select materials or equipment and/or approve manufacturer's shop drawings, ifappropriate. Consult with and advise clientsregardingmethods, equipment, and other items pertinent to the project.
  • Maintain regular and effective two-way communication (verbal and written) with the Project Manager (PM), other team members, (and client, as required) to ensure effective understanding of project deliverables, concerns, and progress from project initiative through completion.
  • Mentor junior team members, providing guidance and opportunities to build on their existing base of experience and improve their breadth of knowledge.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET)accredited program.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related work experienceand the ability to obtain a PE license.A PElicense with active NCEES record ispreferred.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER and current 8-hour refreshers are strongly preferred.
  • Skilled in executing design and construction phase work for remediation and general earthworks projects, including the development of drawings, specifications, calculations, review of submittals, and the ability to perform construction quality inspections.
  • Ability to effectively lead a single or multi-disciplinary project team through design phases; tracking and ensuring compliance with scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Strong technical writing skills and experience preparing basis-of-design documents, technical work plans, and technical approach for proposals.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and present engineering concepts, designs, and data.
  • Ability to carry out multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability tooccasionallytravel,asneeded, for short-term site inspections or site walks.
  • Ability to function in outdoor locations such as active construction and/or remediation sites.
  • Ability to walk long distances on varied terrain, climb ladders, and work at elevation.
  • Ability to receive and deliver detailed information through written and oral communications.
  • Ability to function ata high levelin a fast-paced work environment.
