Job Title: Area Maintenance Technician


Locations: LaQuinta, SpringHill Suites, Fairfield Inn, Holiday Inn, and Holiday Inn Express (Detroit Romulus, MI)

Position Overview:

The Area Maintenance Technician is responsible for the overall upkeep and maintenance of multiple hotel properties in the Romulus, Michigan area. This role ensures that each property is functioning safely, efficiently, and in accordance with brand standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with strong technical skills and the ability to manage time and priorities across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment, systems, and property infrastructure, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks.
  • Conduct regular property inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
  • Respond promptly to service requests and prioritize urgent maintenance issues.
  • Coordinate and support third-party vendors as needed for specialized repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and brand maintenance standards at all properties.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, service schedules, and equipment warranties.
  • Support property teams with preventative maintenance programs and seasonal upkeep (e.g., landscaping, snow removal coordination).
  • Rotate on-call availability for emergency maintenance situations.
  • Assist in capital improvement projects and renovations as needed.
  • Ensure inventory and supply levels are stocked for each property’s maintenance needs.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of maintenance experience, preferably in a hospitality or multi-property environment.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general repair systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to travel daily between hotels in the Romulus area (mileage reimbursement provided).
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with hotel management and staff.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Availability for occasional evening/weekend emergency calls.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments.
