As a hoist operator, your job is to operate hoisting equipment like forklifts, clamps, and elevating platforms to move products and inventory where they need to be. Hoist operators often help transport materials to a warehouse or worksite, load and unload trucks, choose which type of hoist is most appropriate for the situation, and interact with other workers to ensure they move materials when and where they are needed. You may perform safety checks, lubricate equipment, recharge batteries, fill fuel tanks, and operate equipment over difficult or uneven terrain.

Job DescriptionDrive forklift truck equipped with lifting device such as forklift, fork-grapple, clamps, elevating platform, or trailer hitch to push, pull, lift , stack, tier or move raw paper materials and in process products and finished products, equipment , or materials in warehouse, storage yard, or factory. May load and unload semi trailer trucks. Maintain accurate inventory and report any discrepancies. May load and unload materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device. Perform safety checks on lifts. May lubricate truck, recharge batteries, fill fuel tank, or replace liqueifed-gas tank.
QualificationsMust be skilled in handling controls for starting, stopping, backing, and driving fork lift or clamp truck through aisles in building, up and down ramps, and in and out of railroad cars, trucks, etc,,and, for lifting, lowering, and tilting forks by moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate controls. Must know how high, wide, and long the fork lift truck and its loads are, and how much the forklift truck can lift. Good special ability to identify how high and wide a doorway and an aisle must be to drive the fork lift truck and its load; how high and wide a shelf, bin, etc., must be to place the load; and how high the load must be lifted to reach the shelf or bin. Must be able to recognize whether the fork lift truck is able to lift the load and whether the load is properly balanced. Knowledge of the layout of the storage area to be able to find and place items without need for detailed instructions.
RRD's current salary range for this role is $19.30 to $27.20/hour. The salary range may be adjusted
based on the applicable geographic location of the hired employee, and the range may change in the
future. At RRD, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. Depending on the role, in addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program. RRD’s benefit offerings include medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, disability insurance, 401(k) with company match, life insurance and other voluntary supplemental insurance coverages, plus parental leave, adoption assistance, tuition assistance and employer/partner discounts. Will work on 2nd shift.
