Who is a Hockey Game Monitor at SMT?

Are you a hockey fan? Could you spend hours watching the action on the ice and wanted to get paid to do so? Do you keep up with sports statistics and find yourself correcting them during the game?


If you answered yes, we have got just the opportunity for you at SportsMedia Technology (SMT) as a hockey game monitor for the 2026/27 NHL season!


Your role requires an exceptional attention span to simultaneously monitor game feeds, follow the events of the game without distraction, and effectively communicate with other team members and NHL personnel.


This part-time opportunity reports to SMT’s live game hub in our Jacksonville, FL office and is required to work any time there are NHL games, which includes nights, weekends and holidays.


What is Your Daily Impact at SMT?

As a Hockey Game Monitor, you will report to our hub an hour before puck drop to check in for your assigned games. Game shifts are typically 5-7 hours. You will collaborate with our league operations and technical staff to ensure hockey data is accurately presented and ready to take the ice. This includes reviewing and monitoring designated websites, league databases and live game feeds for the NHL.


Additional responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring multiple live NHL game feeds and related statistics to ensure accurate representation of game scores and game information
  • Relaying and summarizing game activities to other SMT and hockey personnel
  • Timely reporting any issues to our NHL leads and technicians
  • Maintaining a positive and collaborative environment among fellow game monitors and SMT personnel



What Do You Bring to SMT?

  • Knowledge and passion for hockey gameplay, rules and statistics
  • Experience and understanding of Windows based applications
  • Basic database, spreadsheet, word processing and standard application knowledge
  • Ability to effectively view numerous monitors and games simultaneously
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Must be able to work regularly on nights, weekends and holidays

  1. Application submitted= Application review by our hiring team.
  2. Candidates chosen for phone screen= brief 10-minute phone screen beginning the week of August 3rd.
  3. Candidates chosen for interview= 30-minute interviews with the hiring manager beginning the week of August 17th.
  4. Hiring Decision= Offers will start to be sent out by the end of August.
  5. Joining the team= New teammates will join our team approx. the week of September 7th.
