Job Summary
Be responsible for the reliability of the electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation equipment of the plant and for the Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation and controls systems design, specification, programming, simulation and testing, start-up assistance, and other detailed documentation of PLC & HMI. Must have proven experience in PLC logic programming and HMI systems programming. Must have a solid understanding of Electrical Equipment, Instrumentation, Control Devices, Computer programming, software development to PLC program processes and HMI configuration.
Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the reliability of the electrical, instrumentation, and control equipment of the plant, including MV & LV Transformers, Switchgears, MCCs, Motors, Grounding System, Lighting & Lightning Systems, PLCs, HMIs,
  • Participate in the budgeting process and control of the maintenance cost of electrical, instrumentation, control and Automation equipment
  • Analyze electrical, control, instrumentation & Control System failures finding the root cause of them, reducing or eliminating them and performs investigation of process deviations and anomalies related to Electrical, Instrumentation & Automation hardware and software.
  • Implements Hardware/Software changes and upgrades on electrical, instrumentation, automation equipment. Identify and resolve long-term or chronic electrical asset concerns.
  • Manages projects related to design, commissioning, and performance improvement of electrical, instrumentation & automated equipment.
  • Supervise Electrical & Instrumentation Technicians
  • Develop and propose preventative, predictive and autonomous maintenance plans.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and plant employees (maintenance repairmen and electricians) to develop specific activities for inspection and maintenance
  • Provide technical support and follow up on maintenance projects and repair work.
  • Collect and analyze equipment maintenance histories, investigate failures and damage, and evaluate the effectiveness of preventative maintenance programs.
  • Own and lead the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process for major failures to ensure prevention of re-occurrence.
  • Monitor and Optimize Predictive and Preventive Maintenance programs at operating facilities
  • Drive resolution of highest impact issues with a strong sense of urgency and integrity.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as lead/participate on cross functional teams.
  • Proven experience as a self-starter who effectively manages multiple tasks and achieves results with minimal supervision, and have accessibility during off-hours (laptop and cell phone) is required, including sometimes Holidays and Weekends

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical or Automation or Electronics
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the design/build/programming of ControlLogix PLC and HMI (Required)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Electrical Design and Maintenance on MV & LV Equipment (Required)
  • Minimum 3 year of experience working in a cement plant.
  • Proven understanding of electrical regulatory and industrial standards and codes
  • Proven understanding of control and instrumentation systems in an industrial manufacturing environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must possess deeper programming experience with PLC (Rockwell & Modicon), Troubleshooting Variable speed drivers for AC and DC motors, Transformers, Motors, Generators, Control Systems, Electrical protection of motor in low, medium and high voltage.
  • Strong PLC and HMI programming skills, PLC (ControlLogix & Modicon) and HMI
  • Must have proven experience in PLC logic programming & HMI programming
  • Strong knowledge of Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Systems
  • Strong knowledge of process control and machine automation
  • Strong knowledge of cement process
  • Working knowledge of engineering documentation required for process equipment
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database management software
  • Strong communication skills
  • Computer Skills on Excel, Power Point, Word, SAP, Autocad, Visio, Word

Working Conditions
  • Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise and working outdoors
  • Must wear all necessary protective equipment while at the location

Physical Requirements
  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling and climbing to a significant degree
  • Heavy work-exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment
  • Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning and/or pulling of controls
  • Must pass DOT physical to include back x-ray, hearing test and drug/alcohol screening.
