Job description

Overview

The PACS Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, support, optimization, and strategic development of ARH's enterprise Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and associated imaging informatics applications. This position supports Radiology, Cardiology, and other imaging service lines by ensuring imaging systems operate efficiently, securely, and reliably to support high-quality patient care.  Working closely with clinical, operational, and IT teams, the PACS Administrator provides technical expertise in system administration, workflow optimization, application integrations, vendor management, troubleshooting, and project implementation. The role serves as a key resource in advancing enterprise imaging initiatives while maintaining the day-to-day operation of critical imaging technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Manage daily PACS operations, including image workflow, archiving, autorouting, prefetching, and system performance.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to imaging applications and system integrations.
  • Support and maintain interfaces between PACS, RIS, EMR, Cardiology, and third-party systems.
  • Collaborate with Radiology, Cardiology, Clinical, and IT teams to optimize workflows and improve operational efficiency.
  • Plan, test, and implement software upgrades, patches, system enhancements, and new technologies.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to manage support requests and project activities.
  • Provide training and technical guidance to end users and support staff.
  • Assist with compliance efforts related to security, data integrity, retention requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor system performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and user experience.
  • Participate in the design, implementation, and support of enterprise imaging and informatics initiatives.
  • Maintain expertise in PACS, imaging informatics, DICOM, HL7, and healthcare technology trends.
  • Occasional onsite meetings or work may be required.
  • On call responsibilities are required with a rotation
QualificationsEducation

Radiology/Cardiology experience required.

Associate's Degree required.

Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Experience

Five (5) years of relevant work experience required.

Demonstrated ability to work independently required.
