We are seeking a Technology Consultant with experience in Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) and healthcare interoperability to support the design, implementation, and integration of modern healthcare data exchange solutions. The ideal candidate will work closely with clients, business stakeholders, and technical teams to deliver secure, scalable, and standards-based integrations that enable seamless exchange of healthcare information across clinical and enterprise systems.
This role combines consulting, solution design, and hands-on technical implementation, helping healthcare organizations modernize legacy systems and improve interoperability using HL7 FHIR standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with clients to gather business and technical requirements related to healthcare interoperability.
  • Design and implement HL7 FHIR-based integration solutions between healthcare applications and enterprise platforms.
  • Develop, configure, and consume RESTful APIs supporting FHIR resources and healthcare data exchange.
  • Configure and integrate FHIR resources such as Patient, Practitioner, Encounter, Observation, Medication, Allergy Intolerance, Condition, Procedure, and Care Plan.
  • Design data mappings between legacy healthcare systems and FHIR resources.
  • Develop and validate JSON and XML payloads used for FHIR messaging.
  • Support interoperability initiatives involving Electronic Health Records (EHRs), Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), Health Information Exchanges (HIEs), payer systems, and third-party healthcare applications.
  • Troubleshoot API integrations, data quality issues, and interoperability challenges.
  • Participate in solution architecture, technical design reviews, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Document solution designs, integration specifications, API documentation, and technical procedures.
  • Provide best practice recommendations related to FHIR implementation, healthcare interoperability, security, and scalability.
  • Work collaboratively within cross-functional consulting teams while communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience implementing healthcare integration solutions using HL7 FHIR.
  • Experience working with RESTful APIs and web services.
  • Experience working with JSON and/or XML data formats.
  • Understanding of healthcare interoperability concepts and standards.
  • Experience integrating clinical or healthcare information systems.
  • Knowledge of API authentication methods such as OAuth 2.0 and SMART on FHIR is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Experience:
  • HL7 Version 2.x or CDA experience.
  • Experience integrating with Epic, Cerner/Oracle Health, MEDITECH, Allscripts, or other EHR platforms.
  • Experience with healthcare integration engines such as Mirth Connect (NextGen Connect), Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, or similar middleware.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Knowledge of healthcare privacy and security regulations including HIPAA.
  • Experience with Agile software delivery methodologies.
