Applicant Pool for Adjunct Faculty, Fine Art, Art History
Job Description:

Instructor will lead students in the study of Art Appreciation as well as courses in Art History.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • The instructor must be knowledgeable in the discipline and must provide high quality instruction. The instructor must have a demonstrated knowledge of and integration of appropriate practices of teaching to different learning styles.

  • This position requires the individual to have strong skills in the following: 1. Written and oral communication. 2. Problem-solving. 3. Critical thinking. 4. Computer use, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and/or other required programs, Blackboard, and Owens email.

  • This position requires the individual to have the ability to: 2. Integrate a variety of methodologies in order to facilitate student learning. 3. Understand the needs of community college students. 4. Manage a classroom, including organizing and presenting material, designing lessons and activities that will facilitate student learning, and monitoring student behavior and performance. 5. Follow instructions and meet deadlines. 6. Recognize students' strengths and weaknesses in the discipline and to provide feedback to students in such a way as to facilitate their learning. 7. Evaluate student work fairly using Department guidelines.

Essential Functions:

  • Lecture and guidance of classroom discussions, as well as supervision and evaluation of class projects/student work.
