The Peel Compton Foundation is looking for a Museum Gift Shop Clerk at the Peel Museum & Botanical Garden! If you love history and enjoy connecting with visitors, this is the perfect job for you.
About the Position  
We’re looking for a dynamic Part-Time Museum Gift Shop Clerk & Tour Guide to bring history to life at the Peel Museum & Botanical Garden. Based in the historic Andy Lynch Log Cabin, this dual-focus role is perfect for a storyteller who loves retail, people, and local heritage.
General Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to museum visitors and store customers
  • Greet museum visitors and capture their information before tours
  • Perform open and closing duties for the store and other areas of the property
  • Monitor inventory levels and product expiration, along with general merchandising ensuring that products are displayed appropriately and are attractive to customers
  • Price and stock new inventory in a timely manner
  • Ensure the store is clean and inviting to customers
  • Meet monthly sales goals 
Museum Tours & Visitor Engagement:
  • Provide factual, engaging, and efficient tours of the historic Peel house museum.
  • Welcome, answer questions, and actively connect with diverse public groups.
  • Ensure the museum and store environments are kept clean, safe, and welcoming to all guests.
  • Assist management with administrative tasks, special programs, and events within the museum when required.
Who we are seeking:  
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a retail environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Works well independently and with light supervision
  • Experience using POS and inventory management software
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel
  • Successfully pass a background check and drug screening
  • Must be able to work some weekends and occasional holidays
