Job description

JOB DUTIES:

Hino Motors Manufacturing, U.S.A., Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hino Motors, Ltd. (Japan). Hino Motors Manufacturing U.S.A., Inc. is seeking a Purchasing Assistant Manager for its Headquarters facility located in Novi, MI. Hino Motors offers a competitive wage and benefits package.


Responsibilities include:

  • Lead Purchasing Team in activities of all responsible platforms
  • Supervise team members
  • Support Product Planning and Engineering – developing plans to support new program launches and special projects
  • Promote teamwork and cooperation with interacting departments including Japan
  • Work closely with related department and manufacturing plants to ensure operational needs are achieved
  • Cost data management: input pricing data and resolve discrepancies working with buyers
  • Develop, implement and manage commodity strategy
  • Generate commodity cost estimates to build sourcing, negotiation, and supplier development strategies
  • Analyze costs to understand and evaluate supplier competitiveness
  • Drive continuous improvement in the supply base in support of Hino Motor’s business goals
  • Negotiate part cost and tooling for your responsible supply base
  • Facilitate annual supplier cost improvements/manufacturing improvements activities
  • Plan and direct materials and supply to reduce cost and improve quality
  • Provide support to manufacturing plants for both strategic issues and supplier performance issues
  • Issue Purchase Orders for production components and tooling
  • Regularly report out progress to leadership

JOB REQUIREMENTS:


Required Knowledge and Skill Sets:

  1. Strong MS Excel and MS PowerPoint skill sets
  2. Strong written and verbal communication skills
  3. Strong organizational and data management skills
  4. Experience working with non-U.S. based customers/suppliers preferred
  5. High level of attention to detail
  6. Strong understanding of manufacturing cost drivers preferred
  7. Ability to work independently under tight deadlines is essential in this fast paced environment

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 – 7 years of Purchasing experience
  • Purchasing experience of automotive components
  • Experience in stamping and fabrication commodities preferred
  • Excellent understanding of Automotive Suppliers in North America, experience with the Commercial Truck industry is preferred
  • Management/Supervisory Experience preferred


EDUCATION:

  • BS in Business, Supply Chain Management or Finance

OTHER:

  • Position requires traveling up to 25% of the time.
  • Position might require moving equipment up to 10 pounds or less.
