Part-Time High School Teacher-Tutor

Motivated by mathematics? Sharp with science? Excited by equations? Eager to help students succeed in math and science?

GradePower Learning Chesapeake is looking for an upbeat reliable, enthusiastic, dynamic part-time High School Math & Science Tutor who wants to work in a rewarding teaching environment. Candidates must possess a strong background in math (and be comfortable with science) as well as be comfortable with teaching students from 9th-12th grade, at all levels.

Tutors at GradePower Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements:

All Tutors at GradePower Learning work during after-school and evening hours. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. A background check is mandatory.

We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth year university students with tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Strong knowledge of the current 9th to 12th grade curriculum

Experience:

  • Experience teaching/tutoring math, science or English at a 9th to 12th grade (or equivalent) level
  • Math instructors must have strong skills in Advanced functions, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Data Management and Trigonometry
  • Proficiency in Physics and/or Chemistry is preferred
  • Strong math and science skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

Responsibilities (Position Details):

You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:

  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Teaching in-person
  • Following the GradePower Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Completing daily student communication updates
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
