About the Role:

As a Project Engineer II (SPE) at DeSimone Consulting Engineering, you’ll play an essential role in driving the structural design process from concept through construction. Working alongside Project Managers, you’ll perform detailed analyses, develop structural plans and specifications, and ensure every project meets design intent, technical standards, and regulatory requirements. You’ll also mentor junior engineers and BIM technicians, coordinate across multidisciplinary teams, and engage directly with clients—helping to deliver exceptional, technically sound projects that reflect DeSimone’s commitment to engineering excellence.

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct structural design and analysis using software such as Revit, RISA, ETABS, SAP, and RAM.

  • Prepare and review structural plans, specifications, and calculations with precision and accuracy.

  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals to ensure compliance with design and safety standards.

  • Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and regulatory agencies to align designs with project goals.

  • Lead and mentor junior engineers and BIM technicians, providing technical guidance and quality oversight.

  • Participate in client calls and meetings, offering technical input and supporting clear, professional communication.

  • Contribute to project budgeting, planning, and scheduling by providing accurate engineering input.

  • Apply knowledge of building codes, materials, and design criteria to ensure compliance and efficiency across all deliverables.

  • Maintain organized records of design decisions, calculations, and project documentation.

What We're Looking For:

  • BS or MS in Civil or Structural Engineering.

  • 5–7 years of experience in structural engineering, preferably with building structures.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or in progress.

  • Proficiency in Revit, and structural analysis software (RISA, ETABS, SAP, RAM).

  • Strong understanding of building codes, construction methods, and design principles.

  • Proven ability to mentor junior team members and contribute to project leadership.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with client-facing experience.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in solving complex design challenges.

Minimum (Required) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or related field and seven (7) years of relevant experience in structural analysis and design of industrial, warehouse, distribution, and low-rise multi story buildings, including project management; or
  • Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or related field and five (5) years of relevant experience in structural analysis and design of industrial, warehouse, distribution, and low-rise multi story buildings including project management.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in performing and supervising the design and analysis of low and mid rise buildings.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience utilizing software packages such as RISA, ETABS, SAP, RAM.

Minimum (Required) Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of local and national building codes and design practices.
  • Knowledge of standard construction practices and the ability to work with contractors to address construction issues.
  • Detail oriented with strong interpersonal, problem solving and team skills.
  • Deep knowledge of construction materials and methodologies.
  • Proven drafting skills, exemplified by a portfolio of prior work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master’s Degree in Civil, Structural Engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer’s (PE) license.
  • Experience in precast and tilt-up buildings desired but not required.
  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD

At DeSimone Consulting Engineering, we’re committed to transparency—especially when it comes to compensation. The salary range listed reflects what we believe, in good faith, is a fair and competitive range for this role based on the market and location.
This is a salaried, exempt position with an anticipated base salary range of $100,000–$110,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Most candidates are typically hired near the midpoint of the range, ensuring a balanced and equitable approach across our team.
