Parts Person and Small Engine Mechanic

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Parts Person & Small Engine Mechanic to support our service and sales operations. This role combines customer-facing parts counter responsibilities with hands-on diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of small engines and related equipment. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, excellent organizational skills, and a customer-focused attitude.

A typical day looks like:

    Parts & Inventory Duties

    • Assist customers and technicians in identifying and sourcing correct parts
    • Manage parts inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and cycle counts
    • Maintain accurate records in the parts management system
    • Process parts sales, returns, and warranties
    • Keep parts department clean, organized, and properly labeled
    • Communicate with suppliers and follow up on backorders

    Small Engine Mechanic Duties

    • Diagnose, repair, and maintain small engines and equipment (e.g., lawn mowers, chainsaws, trimmers, generators, snow blowers, etc.)
    • Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tune-ups, carburetor cleaning, and blade sharpening
    • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and fuel system issues
    • Complete work orders accurately and in a timely manner
    • Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper operation
    • Follow all safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines

    Do you have what it takes?

      • High school diploma or equivalent
      • Previous experience with small engine repair preferred
      • Knowledge of 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines
      • Familiarity with parts catalogs, diagrams, and inventory systems
      • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills
      • Basic computer skills
      • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and work in a shop environment
      • Strong communication and customer service skills
      • Valid driver's license
