Technical Sales Specialist - Laser Trackers
Location: Remote, but candidate MUST live within territory of West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, or Florida.

The Opportunity
Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence is seeking a highly motivated Technical Sales Specialist to support our Portable Metrology business across North America. This role partners closely with Regional Sales Managers and Regionals Sales Engineers to provide deep technical expertise throughout the sales cycle, helping customers identify and implement the right metrology solutions for their manufacturing challenges.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical aptitude with exceptional communication skills and enjoys working directly with customers to demonstrate how advanced metrology technologies improve manufacturing quality and productivity.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about advanced manufacturing, Industry 4.0, and helping customers solve complex inspection and measurement challenges.
Job Responsibilities
  • Partner with Regional Sales Managers and Regional Sales Engineers to support the complete sales process from discovery through implementation.
  • Conduct product demonstrations of Hexagon's portable metrology hardware and software solutions.
  • Evaluate customer manufacturing processes and recommend appropriate inspection workflows and technologies.
  • Deliver technical presentations to engineers, quality managers, manufacturing leaders, and executive stakeholders.
  • Assist with proof-of-concept evaluations and customer trials.
  • Develop measurement strategies for complex customer applications.
  • Support trade shows, customer events, seminars, and technical workshops.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Applications Engineering, Marketing, and Customer Success teams.
  • Provide technical guidance during proposal development and solution configuration.
  • Help customers understand ROI, productivity improvements, and quality benefits of Hexagon solutions.
  • Stay current on competitive technologies, industry trends, and emerging manufacturing applications.
  • Maintain accurate sales activity and technical opportunity information within CRM.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Metrology, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience supporting industrial manufacturing technologies.
  • Experience with portable metrology, CMMs, 3D scanning, dimensional inspection, or quality systems.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and dimensional measurement principles.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent presentation and demonstration skills, with strong customer-facing communication abilities.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50-70% throughout assigned territory.
  • Experience with Hexagon products or competing metrology platforms.
  • Knowledge of Spatial Analyzer, Inspire, PolyWorks, or other metrology software.
  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, NX, or Autodesk Inventor.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, aerospace, automotive, energy, medical devices, or heavy equipment.
  • Experience with laser trackers, articulated arms, or handheld 3D scanning.
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0, digital twins, and smart manufacturing initiatives.
