Job description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Hemodynamic Technologist III is responsible for providing assistance to physicians, anesthesiologists, and staff in performing physiological monitoring, auto transfusion services, point of care, and laboratory testing.
  • Assists during intubation and line placement.
  • Responsible for care, cleaning, and handling anesthesia equipment.
  • Coordinates care for patients requiring cardiopulmonary monitoring and provides anesthesia support services.
  • Maintains supplies for processes.
  • Takes inventory, orders, and stocks anesthesia carts.
  • Supports the mission of Perioperative Services Division by being an image of professionalism through communication, appearance, and conduct.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of departmental and hospital standards, policies, and procedures.
  • The Hemodynamic Tech III demonstrates competency and skill in assigned procedures, equipment usage, and complex cardiovascular cases.
  • Performs all duties above with a high level of training, skill, and expertise.
  • Provides guidance and mentoring to new employees and students.
  • Performs lead duties, delegates, schedules, and assigns resources when needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Hemodynamic Technologist role within peri-operative services or completed Respiratory Therapy Program experience.
  • Demonstrated advanced competency of all procedures, equipment usage, and skills in Cardiovascular and Cardiothoracic procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, instrumentation, and supplies
  • Advanced skills in invasive hemodynamic monitoring and in Intra Operative Auto transfusion
  • Advanced skills in insertion, removal, transportation and monitoring of Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IAPB) and "Impella" devices

License Required

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist/RT Licensure; or
  • CER A. TT- Anesthesia Technologist (detailed below)

License Preferred

  • N/A

Certifications Required:

  • Basic Life Support (AHA)
  • Advance Cardiac Life Support (AHA)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist - NBRC; or 
  • Certified Anesthesia Technologist - ASATT (within 365 days of employment)

Certifications Preferred

  • IV Certification
