Job description

Fernwood Property Management is looking for a Helper C to join our team and contribute to providing the highest possible quality of service and an exemplary living experience for our residents. 

We are seeking to hire a Helper C for the Regents Park property in Hyde Park!
The Helper C position is responsible for maintaining the exterior and interior physical condition of all residential buildings common areas. Comply according to company operating and safety standards and to ensure that cleaning service requests and repairs are made in a timely manner. The Helper C reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.

 
This is a regular, full-time position WITH BENEFITS. This role is a union position. Helper C level union training is required for the role.
 

Schedule is Thursday-Monday 3:30pm-12am 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain leasing office, management office, models, and interior public and common areas of the community in a neat, clean and attractive condition.
  • Maintain all grounds, including sidewalks, public walkways, and stairways, building exteriors, garden areas in a neat, clean and attractive condition.
  • Assisting in efforts to make vacant apartments rent-ready in a timely manner.
  • Compact and remove trash and debris from community areas.
  • Complete assigned cleaning requests and repairs consistent with company operating standards and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain company customer service standards. Respond to resident requests and work with residents to minimize/resolve problems and complaints. Follow through to ensure issue is completed to resident’s satisfaction.
  • Apply all applicable company policies and procedures such as, but not limited to company operating and safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local laws, specifically Fair Housing regulations.
  • Ability to strip and wax hardwood floors.
  • Operate a snow blower and shovel during the winter months.
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Customer Service Minded People Person.  The best part of serving others is creating experiences for them that go beyond the expected. Positive attitude, strong work ethic, high standards of professionalism and self-motivation required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • 2-3 years of janitorial experience, preferably in an apartment setting.
  • Ability to identify cleaning and chemical supplies.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic skills such as measurement, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in order to do basic calculations and analysis such as estimating, determining averages and percentages, and totals.
  • Ability to occasionally operate general office equipment such as, but not limited to, personal computer, telephone, photo coping machine, facsimile machine and postage machine.
  • Ability to frequently handle and use chemicals and general cleaning supplies.
  • Ability to frequently transport up to 60 pounds variable distances, the mobility and flexibility to use required equipment, access and work in restricted spaces or at heights in excess of 8-9 feet.
  • Ability to frequently operate industrial carpet shampoo machine.
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and climb (stairs, ladders, etc.).
