Job description

SVI Trucks builds custom fire apparatus, including rescue trucks, hazmat units, command vehicles, fire engines, tanker trucks, law enforcement vehicles and more. Every truck that leaves the factory is truly one-of-a-kind thanks to innovative engineering and meticulous construction.
We are looking for an energetic, self-starting Fire Apparatus Detailer Technician for our Trucks division. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a trusted, well respected, family-owned business that is continually expanding.?
If you want to work for a company that knows what it means to take care of people, then this might be the job for you! As a Detailer Technician, you will be responsible for cleaning and refurbishing the interior and exterior of new and refurbished fire trucks while keeping company goals and customer satisfaction in mind.
The Fire Truck Detailing Technician may be required to perform work inside and outside, in all temperature and weather situations. The position requires frequent sitting, standing, balancing, bending, or stooping for prolonged periods of time, manual dexterity, fine manipulation and the ability to reach with hands and arms, and lift up to 50 pounds max. Use of ladders and rolling staircases included in equipment to complete job duties.
Essential Functions:
  • Wash vehicle exteriors to clean newly built Fire Apparatus, using cleaning solution, water, cloths and chamois.
  • Apply wax to auto body, and wipe or buff surfaces to protect and preserve shine, using cloth or buffing machine.
  • Blow out and vacuum interiors of Fire Trucks to remove loose dirt and debris, using vacuum cleaner.
  • Clean upholstery, rugs, and other surfaces, using cleaning agents, applicators, and cleaning devices.
  • Apply revitalizers and preservatives to vinyl or leather surfaces and treats fabrics with spot and stain resistant chemicals to preserve and protect interior components.
  • Apply special purpose cleaners to remove foreign materials which do not respond to normal cleaning procedures, utilizing experience and following recommendations of product manufacturer.
  • Review completed work to ensure quality of detail and cleaning.
  • Perform work according to policies and procedures and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Accurately records time spent on each job utilizing company time clocking procedures.
  • Advise Manager of any supply issues or concerns with tools or equipment.
  • Advise Manager of any repairs that need attention including dents, dings, rock chips or peeling paint.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Must be able to walk/stand for long periods of time, ability to bend and twist
  • Previous detailing experience desired
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check, drug screen and physical agility test
