JOB DETAILS

Base Rate: $20.00 - $21.50 per hour + $1.50 Shift Differential

Schedule: 6:00 PM - 2:30 AM, hours may vary depending on operations

Training may occur on Day Shift, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Machine Operator I is responsible for setting up and operating heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations. They must have thorough knowledge of production techniques and the ability to produce quality-building parts. 

  • Understands and follows safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and around a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to set-up and operate machinery and equipment to cut, punch, form, or paint quality finished or semi-finished parts.
  • Ability to operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment. 
  • Operate various CNC-controlled machines, such as presses, lasers, and rolling mills in a fast-paced production setting, with an emphasis on safety and quality
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required to maintain proper operation.
  • Marks part numbers, order numbers, and the number of pieces on parts. Attaches identification tags as required for customer to have the ability locate correct parts.
  • Interprets blueprints, specifications, and other technical data to select the correct raw material or semi-finished parts.
  • Maintains continuous improvement practices in work area.
  • Provide cost-saving suggestions and ideas to improve productivity and eliminate waste
  • Utilize scanning equipment
  • Inspect work visually for defects according to Quality Systems
  • Read a tape measure, write, and follow posted schedules
  • Team player and keeping safety first
  • May be assigned other projects and duties as designated by Team Leader
  • Willing/able to work overtime
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • A minimum of one year of related work experience in manufacturing or comparable work environment
  • A minimum of one year operating manufacturing machinery and/or equipment
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Experience with hand tools, wrenches, banding equipment and nail guns
  • Able to use of measuring gauges
  • Able to read a tape measure
  • Forklift experience a plus / Must be trainable on forklift
  • Crane experience a plus / Must be trainable on crane
  • Flexible with working overtime and weekends when needed
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist

This is a position with the potential overtime. The shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours long depending on work orders for the day and season of the year.
