The Opportunity

Reporting to the Construction Services Team Leader and based in LaGrange, IN, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting pipeline construction activity with mechanical activities associated with pipeline maintenance. The incumbent will perform various duties on high pressure pipelines.

  • This position requires some travel (75%) in support of pipeline construction activities.
  • This position is overtime eligible and may require extended work hours. Minimum schedule will be 10-hour days, on for 8 days off for 6 days

What You'll Do

  • Run equipment (forklift, dozer, excavator, Dozer, skiddy, telehandler etc.) while operating on pipelines
  • Be Responsible for shipping, receiving, and unloading of materials for projects
  • Gather all MTRs for all materials that are applicable to a project
  • Perform Red Line reviews / FMR's and work with internal/external engineering to accomplish as need
  • Assist with ordering of welding consumables as needed
  • Responsible for ordering and inventory management of coating materials
  • Responsible for overseeing construction equipment certification logs and ensure compliance
  • Catalog and complete project record binders for all projects
  • Assist Crew Leaders and Associate with obtaining documentation, op qualifications, and procedures as needed
  • Assist crew on constructability reviews, safety aspects, and compliance for projects
  • Cross train with project planner and fill in as needed to support program
  • Valued experience in ditch excavation
  • Experience in Bell hole excavation
  • Excavating around underground utilities and Pipelines
  • Ability to function within a composite crew in all operating & Laboring project tasks

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5 or more years of experience operating equipment
  • Valid CDL license or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
  • High degree of respect for safe work habits
  • Great work attitude
  • Ability to develop an understanding of Company practices and procedures while applying them to a site-specific procedure
  • Ability to obtain Operator Qualifications as required for specific tasks assigned
  • Demonstrated concern for people, utilizing effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a construction environment while acting independently in the execution of pipeline maintenance
  • Ability to safely and effectively operate powered tools such as drills, grinders, torches, etc.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding mechanical duties as required
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills and work hard

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a 2-3 year vocational/ technical training program
  • Pipeline construction industry experience
  • Computer proficiency (Windows, Teams, Word, Outlook & Excel)

This position requires candidates to

  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license (CDL preferred/ability to acquire) and safe driving record
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Be subject to call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and extended workdays and/or workweeks for emergency response purposes
  • Frequent travel to other company locations to support construction activities, which will involve overnight stays away from home
